Taiko Meantime: Dojoji

Combining powerful drumming with hypnotic music and dance, Taiko Meantime rampages through mystical ancient Japan in a unique re-telling of a famous legend. Chieko Kojima (the Kodo drummers) and Shunjo Ono (head monk of Dojoji temple) headline a ravishing show.

Free pre-show talk 6.15pm:

We are honoured to be joined by Rev. Shunjo Ono, head monk of Dojoji Temple for the Dojoji 2016 UK tour.

Mr. Ono will give a fascinating talk in English on the legend of Dojoji and its central characters, Anchin and Kiyohime.

With the ancient Dojoji scrolls that depict the legend, he’ll tell the story and explain how it links with both Shinto – the ethnic religion of Japan, and Buddhism.

Hearing and seeing the story first-hand from Mr. Ono will be an elightening experience in itself, but will also greatly enrich your understanding of the performance.
