A Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch production

By Anne Odeke, Guleraana Mir,  Kenny Emson and Sadie Hasler

An entertaining premiere capturing the true spirit of Essex and its people.

★★★★ ‘Sharply written quartet of monologues presents a compelling snapshot of contemporary Essex’ – The Stage

★★★★ ‘These are all working-class stories given centre stage, the theatrical equivalent of an LS Lowry painting.’ – London Theatre 1

★★★★ ‘hilarious, fierce […] a joyous, powerful piece’ – British Theatre Guide

‘..beautifully crafted evening that gets to the root of how place moulds us’ – Lyn Gardner

‘a superbly high-definition production which is both humorous and moving. Warmly recommended.’ – Aleks Sierz

It’s 1908 and Joanna’s planning to provoke the attention of Southend and the whole of the nation, by becoming the first black woman to compete in a beauty pageant.

Fiza’s moved home with her parents. Under dire circumstances… At nearly 40. Will she pick herself up in time for the dreaded school reunion?

Tag’s out with the lads in 1998 – it’s his last night as a proper Essex boy. But there are last nights, and there are last nights.

Daisy’s having a baby.

Yep right now.

Actually having a baby.

The pain relief kicks in, the room goes fuzzy and she finds herself in 1978… in a glam rock band.

Four inspirational tales of Essex resilience intertwine to make an unmissable world premiere by some of the region’s most exciting playwrights.

Please note: booking for each performance of Misfits will close 2 hours before the performance starts.

Following the latest Lockdown measures, the production will now be solely live-streamed. Existing bookers will be able to view the production in real time via a private link to the live stream‎ that will be sent out on the day of the performance (as previously planned). New bookers can continue to book a ‘virtual seat’ for all performances and will also be sent the private link on the day.
