I AM HERE is a new online project featuring trailblazing theatre makers to break down barriers between young people and theatre. This September our Young Changemakers will host four FREE online workshops led by artists who use their work to stand up and shout “I am here!”. Each weekly session will focus on a different intersection of identity: Class, Race, Sexuality and Gender, exploring representation in the arts and showing that whoever you are, theatre has a place for you.
This session features a discussion on sexuality with playwright Kelly Jones, led by Young Changemaker Heather Smith.
Kelly Jones is a gay working-class Playwright from Dagenham. She was the winner of the BBC Drama Award in 2014. She has recently completed the Emerging Playwrights Program at The Bush Theatre. Currently on Hightide’s Playwrights cohort, Mercury Theatre’s Essex Voices and BBC Drama Room 20/21. Kelly writes about queerness, class and her relationship to home. She works extensively within the LGBTQ Community. She was the founder of Queer Arts Collective Wales.
