I was lucky enough to see Cinderella on Monday night this week.
I am glad to say that as usual it did not disappoint.
I actually think this was one of the best Pantos I have seen and really think it’s better than some of the ones with big headliner names featured in them. It had all the usual sparkle, laughter, and music you expect and want from a traditional Panto.
There were enough jokes to keep everyone laughing throughout the evening – and for my OH to keep re-telling them to everyone the next day! There was just slightly less audience participation than in previous years but to me that actually made the Panto more enjoyable as it meant everything flowed much more smoothly and kept the interest of the youngsters around me. I didn’t see one fidget all night!
I have to say whilst I loved all of the cast – special mention to the fabulous and very funny fairy – my favourites had to be the two ugly sisters – the outfits were amazing (the wardrobe dept always pull out all the stops at Panto time and aways come up with such fun and imaginative ideas) but they really stole the show for me with their comedy and especially the scenes with their mum Baroness Hardup.
Another thing that I thought really made a difference was that whilst often pantos will use music created especially for them – Cinderella used songs that people would know and be able to sing along with.
All in all it was a fantastic evening – the theatre itself is such a friendly and comfortable place to go to. Wherever you sit you are guaranteed a really good view and the staff are always friendly and helpful.
If you haven’t already booked I would recommend you get in quick to buy your tickets as it’s a show not to be missed – a definite 5 stars from me!
