About The Show
A celebration of the world famous Peggy Lee, Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman, featuring six amazingly versatile musicians and singers, with vocals from Georgina Jackson from the West End show Chicago and regular at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.
Penny, Duke and Benny is a new show conceived by Georgina Jackson and her Musical Director Pete Long. Taking a selection of tunes associated with Peggy Lee (some well known, others not so) Pete, clarinettist and leader, has arranged the tunes in the style of the Benny Goodman small bands featuring Anthony Kerr on vibes, Nick Dawson, piano, Dave Chamberlain, bass and Richard Pite on drums.
Pete, well known for his recreation of the Benny Goodman 1938 Carnegie Hall concert and his long established Echoes of Ellington Orchestra has taken this opportunity of combining his musical enthusiasms and presenting the music of these three great names in jazz history in one highly entertaining programme.
Georgina Jackson currently runs two careers simultaneously - As a first call trumpet player (currently playing in the West End production of Chicago) and jazz singer (regularly fronting the Ronnie Scott Big Band) and recently releasing her second CD "Watch What Happens" which has hit the Itunes Top Ten Downloads Jazz Chart).
Georgina's trumpet playing is also featured in the Peggy, Duke and Benny show alongside her superb singing of classics such as Fever, The Folks Who Live On The Hill, Pass Me By, He's A Tramp, Why Don't You Do Right and many more.
