new writing programme

The Queen’s Theatre's New Writing Programme is full of opportunities for aspiring playwrights.

1. new writing awards scheme

This biennial award provides aspiring local playwrights with the opportunity to produce a full length play for performance at the Queen's as part of our writenow! festival – which will be held, for the second time, in 2007.

Award winners receive a bursary, are mentored by one of our literary associates and have the opportunity to attend rehearsals and productions.

The winners of the first Queen's Theatre New Writing Award for 2004/5 were: Pauline Hannah, David Hill and Phil Clements. Pauline, David and Phil worked alongside professional actors, directors and playwrights in a programme led by David Eldridge. This programme culminated in the theatre’s first writenow! Festival which was held in September 2005.

Come along to the Queen’s for an evening of rehearsed readings on the foyer stage, showcasing the work of the Queen’s Theatre Writers’ Group.
