The Queen’s
is a producing theatre which means we make and do everything ourselves.
You may think that all theatres create their own productions, but
some, in fact most, do not - these are called receiving or presenting
houses.
As a producing
theatre, the Artistic Director decides what shows we are going to
put on each season (we produce 8 main house shows a year as well
as creating work for our foyer space), relevant staff then design
the set and costumes, build and paint the set, make the costumes
and direct and rehearse the play!
The Queen’s
Theatre has a permanent company of actor/musicians called cut
to the chase..., who are often through-cast each
season. This means that the actors will play a great variety of
roles in a season.
As a producing
theatre, there is always a great deal going on behind the scenes,
so not give your students or group the opportunity to visit back
stage and see how a production is brought to life?
We also have
a café-bar in the foyer, so you and your group can relax
and have a drink or a bite to eat before or after your tour.
