Matt
Welcome started life as a fertilised egg in his mother’s womb. He
was born in a one way cul-de-sac a stone’s throw away from the wrong
side of the tracks on the edge of the outskirts of a one horse town with
no name.
As
a child he was much smaller and used to play pooh sticks on a bridge over
troubled water, a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then.
Matt
avoids clichés like the plague “sometimes it’s
just cliché after cliché after cliché, I’ve
had it up to here with them, if you’ve heard one cliché you’ve
heard them all and I’ve heard every cliché in the book, as
far as I’m concerned there are no new clichés under the sun
and you can quote me on that”.
After
he left home, Matt got a job in a fair ground for 2 years, he says “It
was just a non stop roller coaster ride from start to finish”. Matt
was eventually sacked from the fairground for riding the roller coaster
non stop for 2 years and attended comedy school until he was expelled
for being serious at the front of the class.
More
recently Matt took a bit of time off from the comedy circuit to ‘find
himself’ and the ‘catch up on his reminiscing’, “I
thought I saw myself in Brent Cross shoping centre once but I wasn’t
sure so I just kept walking, funny really after 3 uears pf searching for
myself it turned out I’d been sitting in front of the telly drinking
beer te whole time, I guess people are just like keys, always in the last
place you look”.
Now
he’s back and is committed to revolutionising comedy as the world
knows it or just having a bit of a laugh. You can see Matt Welcome’s
unique style of comedy if you’re close enough and there are no obstacles
in the way.
