Dinah
England

Dinah
trained in theatre design at Nottingham Trent University and graduated
in 1995. She first worked with Rodney Ford
as a student on placement with the Dukes Playhouse, Lancaster.
Her
association with the Queen's Theatre began in 1996 as assistant
designer to Rodney on the production of Cabaret and then
as full-time scenic artist for three months. In 1997 she returned
to the Queen’s Theatre but this time as Associate Designer
and, apart from a brief period in 1998/1999, has either designed
or painted almost all the theatres in-house productions since that
time.
Dinah
designed set and costumes for the main house productions of Hard
Times, The Entertainer, Having a Ball, Jack
the Ripper, Don’t Dress for Dinner, A Chorus
of Disapproval, Dracula, What the Butler Saw,
The Glass Menagerie, Jack and the Beanstalk, One
for the Road, Blithe Spirit, April in Paris,
The Ghost Train, The Lost World, Brief
Encounter, Sleuth and Sleeping Beauty, Romeo
and Juliet, Keep on Running and designed costume for
Blitz! and Perfect Pitch (a collaboration with
Hull Truck).
She
also designed set and costumes for the community plays The Champion
of the Horned Church, Check it Out, Down the River
and Up the Road, Bubbles in the Air, The Path
of the Brave and costumes for Frank Sinatra. Tom Jones.
And Me!
In
May 2004 Dinah decided to leave to become a freelance designer though
she fully intends to keep up her links with her friends at the Queen’s.
