Hilarious escapism, following the success of last spring’s Educating Rita.

Shirley Bradshaw (née Valentine) is an average housewife. Wedded to the home she cooks, cleans and talks to the wall. She would have left, but had nowhere to go.

Leaving a note on the kitchen table, she escapes to Greece. Drinking a glass of wine in a country where the grape is grown, sitting by the sea, looking at the sun she can become Shirley Valentine once more.
