If
you love a good laugh, don’t miss the first ever Queen’s
Theatre
Comedy Fundraising Gala...
A Night of Comedy
|
|
Sunday
4 November 2007 | 7.30pm | £20
For one-night
only you won’t be able to move for comedians on the main stage
with a massive jam-packed line-up of the best comics in the country!
Not
only will you laugh yourself silly, you’ll be helping raise
money for all the valuable work the Queen’s Theatre does throughout
the region. Running one of the country’s busiest theatres
isn’t cheap! The Queen’s is a registered charity (not-a-lotta
people know that) reliant on extra support to fund a wide-ranging
programme – from entertaining tens of thousands of people
a year with everything you see on-stage, to the Theatre’s
extensive education and community work with people of all ages.

| Four
gut-bustingly brilliant headliners... |
 |
Russell Kane
You couldn’t get a better headline act! Originally
from Southend, Russell is rapidly making a name for himself on TV,
recently hosting Big Brother's Big Mouth
(on E4 and C4) and travelling across America filming a series of
celebrity interviews for Five US.
"Probably the most exciting comic
discovery of the year"
chortle.co.uk
His critically-acclaimed debut show was nominated
for if.comedy Best Newcomer Award (formerly the
Perrier Award) at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe and
in 2005 Russell came second in Channel 4’s
So You Think You’re Funny.
"Russell Kane's level of ability
is amazing... His act combines huge energy and a freak physicality
with a rapidly delivered torrent of remarks... Here's a performer
with the instincts of a rabble-rouser."

Barbara Nice
Mrs Barbara Nice - comedy creation of Janice Connolly
- is your average Stockport housewife who has given up the domestic
bliss of Tupperware and Poundstretcher for the unpredictability
of the comedy world. No audience is too rowdy for her to handle
- she's already raised five teenagers!
"Imagine a hybrid between Mrs Merton
and Victoria Wood" The Times
She recently supported Johnny Vegas
and Peter Kay and is now a headline act in her
own right. On TV she has starred alongside Peter Kay as Holy Mary
in Phoenix Nights and Max
and Paddy's Road to Nowhere, That Peter
Kay Thing and Coronation Street
- playing Peter Kay’s mother.
"As
hilarious as it is possible to get" The Scotsman

Shappi
Khorsandi
Shappi Khorsandi is a bright, chirrupy comic who
quickly envelops an audience with her appealing, slightly ditzy
energy.
That Tiggerishly friendly attitude, combined with
her naturally talkative manner, creates a fertile environment in
which her entertaining collection of anecdotes thrives.
"She is as smooth as a baby's bottom"
Edinburgh Evening News
"Britain's
best young female comic by any yardstick" The
Guardian
Shappi was nominated for best breakthrough act at
the 2007 Chortle Awards.

Martin Davis
Your host and MC for the evening
You’re in safe comedy hands with one of the best
MCs around. Martin is a resident at London’s Comedy Café
and Soho-ho and is a regular at the prestigious Comedy Store.
"Davis is good, very good"
Daily Mirror
"Star of the evening… A Cockney stuffed with
mercurial welsh genes (surely?), who had abrasive wit, tons of energy"
The Mercury

Channel 4
Finalist in 2006 Hackney New Act Final

Danny
Dawes
From his loveable Essex boy presence you’ll soon work out that

an Almighty powerful support team! |
